Invisible Chains – What’s Holding You Back?

What’s holding you back?
Are you accomplishing your goals and living your dreams?
Take a minute or two and think about this…

Does your mind revert to a particular circumstance and/or person?

What is this circumstance?
Who is this person?
What’s inhibiting your dreams and taking your power?

Has it been a circumstance, person, or maybe both, that’s been a stumbling block or barrier in your life?

Are you willing to let that circumstance or person continue to arrest your progress, for the rest of your life?

Big questions, huh?

What exactly do I mean by circumstance?
A circumstance is a fact or condition that is related to an event or action. A circumstance can be monumental, but is always limited to its beginning and end. So, the real question becomes; can a circumstance really hold you back?

We’ve all made mistakes. Are you letting a horrible mistake be your circumstance?
We’ve all been rejected. Are you letting rejection be your circumstance?
We’ve all been misused or abused. Are you letting this misuse and abuse live on everyday by continually reminding yourself of that circumstance?

What if circumstance held Nelson Mandela back?
What if circumstance held Helen Keller back?
Is circumstance holding you back?

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” ~ Nido Qubein

What about this person?
Did this person disrespect, hurt, help or hinder you? Do you find yourself sometimes thinking, “If it weren’t for (insert a name), I would be able to (insert a dream)!”

It’s a fact.
People come and go in our lives, and whatever power they have, is given to them by us. So naturally, we are at choice to give power and control, and to take it away when necessary.

My questions for reflection this week are:
What are the invisible chains that are restricting your life?
Are you ready and willing to make the choice to free yourself?

Can you clearly see that the only thing that can hold you back, is you?

Circumstance can sometimes be horrible and monstrous, but, ultimately its power is limited between its beginning and end. The legacy of all circumstance can only live in the story we tell ourselves about the situation. This story creates the very real emotions we feel, which informs our thinking. If you change the story, you can change your thinking. You are the author and storyteller of your life. How do you want your story to be told?

Hint: How you tell yourself your story, will advise everyone else on how your story should be told.

People are given power and influence in your life. The question you should always ask yourself is:
Does this power and influence free you to explore possibility and choice, or does it place the yoke and burden of mediocrity on your shoulders? Obviously, the latter limits you.

You will never fly and reach your heights if you allow yourself to be bound by someone else’s invisible chains! No one person can lead this life in complete isolation. We all need other people in our lives. The choice lies in whether the relationships we choose will empower or disempower our dreams.

There is no circumstance or person that can wield the power to predict or create your path. Your future is your future. It really is your choice. All you need is clarity of mind, along with the courage to exercise your will and choose.

What’s holding you back?
The correct answer is YOU!

If YOU tell the sad story of circumstance and YOU conceded influence and power to others, make a change!

YOU are the only person in full control of your life. Maybe it’s time to make a choice and take control of your life, by breaking the invisible chains that are inhibiting your dreams!

Be at choice…step into your power and stay inspired, it’s a lifestyle choice!

This really hit home. Have to drop the fear and step into the fearless. Personally, a circumstance that took place in surgery 1/3/08, been holding me from living life to the fullest. Am ready to be fearless. Thanks for this post.
